Online Quran Classes in Italy for English and Urdu Speaking Families

Italy is home to a large and growing Muslim community, yet many families struggle to find a reliable Quran teacher near home. The nearest Islamic centre may be far away, classes may be crowded, and lessons may not be in a language your children are comfortable with.

Online Quran classes bring a qualified teacher straight to your home. This guide explains how online Quran learning works for families across Italy, whether your children speak Italian, English or Urdu at home.

The Situation for Muslim Families in Italy

A large community

Estimates of Italy’s Muslim population vary widely. One recent source says that, according to the latest 2025 data, about 2.7 million Muslims live in Italy, many of them second and third generation, with the largest communities in Milan, Rome and Turin. Other sources give lower figures.

Few formal places for learning

Despite the size of the community, formal places of worship and learning remain limited. According to one report, Muslims in Italy pray in around 1,200 makeshift places of worship. A university study mapped only 35 autonomous educational institutions run by Muslim communities across the country, from North to South, including mosques, madrasas, Quran and Islamic studies institutes, and academies.

For many families, this means that structured, regular Quran learning is hard to find nearby. Online classes help fill that gap.

Many languages at home

Muslim families in Italy come from many backgrounds. Children usually speak Italian at school, while at home families may speak Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Albanian or other languages. Many families prefer lessons in English or Urdu, so that both children and parents can follow clearly.

Best Quran Class Times in Italy

Italy follows Central European Time: UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer. Clocks change on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October. Pakistan stays at UTC+5 all year.

Tip: Many Italian schools finish early in the afternoon, while others run full day programmes (tempo pieno) until later. Choose a slot that matches your child’s actual school timetable, and keep it fixed every week.

  3. Tajweed: correct pronunciation and beautiful recitation.
  4. Hifz: memorising short surahs, then larger portions.
