40 Rabbana Duas from the Quran with Translation

The 40 Rabbana duas are some of the most beautiful Quranic duas ever recited. Each one begins with “Rabbana”, meaning “Our Lord”, and each was made by the Prophets, the angels or the righteous believers whose stories Allah tells in the Quran. These duas from the Quran cover everything a believer needs: forgiveness, guidance, patience, family, protection from the Fire, and success in this world and the next. Because they are the words of Allah Himself, there are no better words to ask Him with. Below you will find all 40 Rabbana duas with the Arabic text, transliteration, English translation, surah and verse number, and a short note on who made each dua.

Why Learn the Rabbana Duas?

  • They are the words of Allah. When you recite a Quranic dua, you ask Allah in the very words He chose and approved.
  • They are the duas of the Prophets and the righteous. You join Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Adam, Prophet Musa, the angels and the believers in calling upon the same Lord.
  • They cover every need. From a single word of forgiveness to asking for righteous children, the Rabbana duas give you the right words for almost every situation.
  • They can be recited in salah. Many Muslims recite Rabbana duas in the final sitting of the prayer before the salam, and scholars permit making duas from the Quran there.

How to Use the 40 Rabbana Duas in Daily Life

  • Learn one dua a week. In less than a year, you will have memorised all 40 Rabbana duas.
  • Recite them in the final sitting of salah, before the salam, to make your prayer richer.
  • Choose the right dua for each need: Rabbana Hab Lana (33) for family, Rabbana Zalamna Anfusana (20) for forgiveness, Rabbana La Tuzigh Qulubana (8) for steadfastness, and Rabbana Afrigh Alayna Sabran (4 and 23) for patience in hardship.
  • Reflect on who made each dua. Knowing that you are using the same words as Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Adam or the angels around the Throne adds depth to every recitation.
